A new instructional Paddle Derby division
focused on training Tri-loppet competitors.

Join us on June 29, July 6 and July 13 with a one-time entry fee of $50.

Excited to give the Tri-loppet a try but nervous about the paddling section? Prepare yourself by entering the Tri-loppet training division of the Hoigaard's Paddle Derby. In this three week course for both Canoe or Kayak, you will develop efficient paddling strokes, practice buoy turns and gain confidence going into a sometimes chaotic mass start.

Tri-loppet Training is a division of the Hoigaard’s Paddle Derby, a paddling race series now in its 36th season. Each evening will start with a half hour skills clinic and then be followed by a training “race” similar to the 7k distance of the paddle leg in the Tri-loppet. Improve your skills, increase your fitness and gain confidence going into the toughest leg of the race.

Meet at Thomas Beach on Lake Calhoun between 5:30 pm and 5:45 pm on June 29, July 6 and July 13. There will be a 30 minute training clinic on the water, followed by a 7k "race". Go to the Paddle Derby course page for the race route.

The fee for the 3 week clinic is $50. For an additional charge there are a limited number of canoes and kayaks available to use during the clinic (first-come, first-served). We will bring the boats to the lake.

Boat rental for training sessions:
$15 (total for 3 sessions) Current Designs Vision 150 kayak
$20 (total for 3 sessions) We-No-Nah Minnesota II canoe
